Makoto became a mother at the age of 19.

As a young woman navigating motherhood and entrepreneurship, she started ORGANIC MOTHER LIFE from her home—driven by the desire to create a career that embraced natural beauty and self-empowerment.

Her guiding message, “Watashi Ishin” (My Personal Renaissance), reflects her belief in redefining what it means to work and live as a woman—free from constraints of gender, environment, or social stigma.

While continuing to work hands-on as both a therapist and educator, she now leads all product formulation, brand design, and concept development as the company’s Creative Director.

To date, her accomplishments include:

• 8 salons (directly-managed and affiliated)
• 1 certified cosmetics factory
• Over 100 affiliated esthetic salons nationwide
• 3 published books on natural beauty and esthetics
• 50+ unique skincare products formulated from scratch

Makoto continues to challenge norms and pioneer the future of Japanese organic skincare—one handmade product at a time.

At ORGANIC MOTHER HOUSE® – Botanical Beauty Lab, located in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, we develop and manufacture all formulations in-house—from sourcing raw agricultural materials to final production. Our products are then distributed directly to our nationwide retail shops and partner salons.

This “farm-to-skin” approach ensures each product is delivered as fresh as possible—just like fresh produce—allowing customers to experience the rich seasonality of our botanical blends.

In addition to in-house production, we also collect unused raw materials and agricultural residues from organic farmers across Japan. These are upcycled into cosmetic ingredients—such as essential oils, hydrosols, and botanical extracts—within our lab. We are currently expanding our activities to certify these raw ingredients as organic-certified cosmetic materials.

ORGANIC MOTHER LIFE Co., Ltd. is a small company with fewer than 10 employees. We believe that every team member deserves flexible time off and a work schedule that allows for both personal and family dreams to be fulfilled.

More than 70% of our team members are mothers, including single mothers, and we provide equal pay and a fair working environment for all. Some of our staff members are also entrepreneurs running their own cosmetic brands or operating organic salons from home while continuing to work with us as partners.

We have eliminated the harsh standards often seen in the beauty industry—such as mandatory weekend shifts, holiday restrictions, and long working hours. Instead, we prioritize sustainable work-life integration that embraces marriage, motherhood, and professional goals.

Including our affiliated Cotton House® instructors and salons operating under our brand across Japan, we collaborate with over 300 women. Together, we carry forward a mission to create “cosmetics that beautify both people and communities,” while redefining what modern, empowered work for women can look like—through the lens of organic entrepreneurship.
